1.  Meet Results

Congratulations to the Stingrays! The final score was HP 303, South Carroll 181. It was great seeing so many Stingrays out there swimming fast and having fun. We enjoyed recognizing 6 of our seniors and we will recognize the other 5 this Saturday. We heard compliments from South Carroll about how they loved the pictures, sidewalk chalk, and our concessions. The final results are posted in SwimTopia and I will attach them to this email also. Ribbons and photos are in your family folders. Please pick them up during practice. Folders should be out during practice, if you don’t see them, ask a coach.

2.  Volunteer Stats

Thank you! Thank you to all of the volunteers! We had 80% of the families participating volunteer with 13% working more than 1 shift! So impressive and we can’t do it without you. You did great filling almost all the shifts. We can do even better this weekend. Let’s go for 90% of families! We really need those last shifts filled because every job is important. We managed without a couple of workers, but it was more difficult than it should be.

We currently have 38 out of 87 slots filled for this coming Saturday! Thanks! Please fill those slots!

3.  Appropriate behavior

There have been several observed instances of inappropriate behavior toward coaches and officials. This does not reflect the team spirit of the Stingrays or the Code of Conduct of Hammond Park Pool. Please remember to be kind and respectful to everyone including coaches, parents, officials, or the other team.

4.  Concessions Coordinator

Our team has been blessed for many years under Jeanann’s leadership in concessions. She is going to finish this season as our concessions coordinator, but she would love to train the next person willing to take the time to learn this position. Some of the tasks are creating the list of food items that families bring to meets, purchasing food (can be shared with the swim team directors), and running the stand at the meets. Lots of you wonderful parents have worked the concession stand in the past, so you know how important it is. Both our team and the visiting team depend on it for food and it helps defer swim team costs.

It is not feasible for the directors to handle this role in addition to running the meet. Running home meets takes all of our time and attention. Please consider taking on this opportunity next year. You don’t have to do it alone. Find a friend to work with you! Or form a committee! Thank you for considering it.

5.  This Week

If you are new to the team and still a little lost, please reach out to us at [email protected]. We can answer your questions and meet with you if that would help.

Please see the website for Stingrays practices. Mini rays morning practices do not need to sign up. Mini ray and Stingray evening practices, please sign up in SwimTopia (under job signup for the practice event). Many of you have already signed up, so thank you!

9-10 / 11-12 - 7:55am -8:10am

13 & Over - 8:10am - 8:25am

Meet Starts: 9am

Job signups are open.

The theme of the meet is Bikers vs. Surfers.

Food

We are asking for meet declarations early to help you out. If we can get the declarations in by Tuesday, we will get the food list out by Wednesday evening. We know that it can be difficult to get to the store to get your donation and there is a pep rally so we are trying to give you an extra day. When you bring your donation to the meet, be sure to mark it off. This helps us know what food we have and what we don’t have. There are certain items we absolutely need and someone will have to go shopping during the meet if someone forgets one of these essential items!

Parking

Visiting teams get priority parking. Please do not try to park in our parking lot. We will have attendants checking. Please park at Hammond Middle/Elementary school. There is a path through the forest to get to the pool.

Thank you for all you do to support the team!

Go Stingrays!
