June 23 Weekly Update

Congratulations to the swimmers who swam on Saturday. We might have lost the meet (WM 270, HP 210), but it was a lot of fun and we swam well. We survived the heat! Results are attached.

Volunteers

Thank you to all of the volunteers! The heat made for a difficult time, but you stepped up and helped the meet succeed. We can’t have a meet for the children without parent volunteers! We will not need as many volunteers for the next couple of away meets, so I am asking that all of the positions get filled before the meet. The added stress of not having enough volunteers is not necessary and I would really appreciate it if we can fill all the volunteer positions for the rest of the season. We understand it is more difficult for some families than others. And one family can work more than one shift if you are able! Feel free to work many shifts! Job signups open on Monday at 7 a.m.

Awards

Awards are located in the family files. We ran out of best time ribbons, but they are on order. If your swimmer didn’t get one, they will be coming. The labels are printed, just waiting for the ribbons.

Meet Information

Here is some information from Forest Hill where we are going on Saturday. Be sure to declare by Tuesday at 7 p.m. Our theme is Princesses and Superheros.

  • Address: 4310 Columbia Rd, Ellicott City. The driveway is a bit hidden and narrow, but there is a sign in front which makes it easier to see. Coming from the south, we are just beyond the Wayside Inn, from the north, just past Labrador Lane
  • Parking: We reserve the main parking lot for the visiting team; once you pull in the driveway, you will continue straight up the hill. There should be volunteers present to assist with this process. The lot is a good size and should accommodate your whole team. If the grounds are wet, some of our families will need to park up there as well.
  • Set Up: Our team will set up in the grass near the large main pool and first set of tennis courts; the grassy space lining the lap pool is reserved for your team. There are some awnings and picnic tables, but we recommend bringing your own chairs and pop ups.
  • Warm ups: Your warm up time will be 8:20-8:50, followed by the National Anthem and start of the meet.
  • Concessions: We will have a variety of food for breakfast and lunch, both hot and grab and go items (breakfast sandwiches, donuts, fruit, burgers, taco in a bag, candy, etc.) and will accept cash and credit cards.
  • 50/50 Raffle: there will be a 50/50 raffle during the meet, bring cash!!

Manta Ray practice starts Tuesday at 7 a.m.
